Grant Management

Grant management for nonprofits.

We support nonprofits in identifying, winning, and managing grants. Our team guides you through the full lifecycle, from opportunity research and proposal development to post-award compliance, reporting, and closeout.

We work with organizations of all sizes, from grassroots groups seeking a first award to established nonprofits managing multi-year portfolios, on projects spanning social services, education, healthcare, workforce, and community development.

Grants are competitive and rules-driven.

Many nonprofit budgets depend on grants. Clear proposals, accurate budgets, and consistent compliance practices help organizations secure awards, diversify their funding, and sustain their programs.

Support across the full grant lifecycle

Government and foundation grant writing, compliance monitoring, financial reporting, and audit readiness. We help organizations pursue funding and manage awards with clear processes aligned to funder requirements.

Grant opportunity research and fit assessment
We look for government and foundation opportunities and weigh each against the program's fit and readiness before anyone starts writing.
Proposal development (narratives, forms, attachments)
Each application package is drafted to the funder's stated requirements, with clear measures of impact, and awards are never assured.
Budget development and financial planning support
A project budget is built alongside the proposal so the costs match the planned work and hold up under a funder's review.
Compliance and reporting systems aligned to funder requirements
Written procedures, internal controls, documentation protocols, and a reporting schedule are set up so staff know what each award requires and when.
Financial management support and audit readiness
Award spending is tracked with time and effort and procurement practices in place, so the records are in order when an auditor asks for them.
Post-award administration and stewardship
After an award, we help manage it through closeout and track performance and outcomes that can inform later funding requests.

From opportunity research to closeout

First, research and assess fit. Then develop the proposal. Next, set up compliance. Finally, track and report outcomes.

We identify government and foundation opportunities and weigh program fit and readiness before a proposal is written.

Common questions

What types of grants do you help nonprofits secure?

We assist with government grants, as well as foundation and corporate philanthropy opportunities. Our work covers social services, healthcare, education, workforce, and community development.

How do you ensure grant compliance throughout the award period?

We set up practical systems: written procedures and internal controls, monitoring checkpoints, documentation protocols, financial tracking, time/effort and procurement practices, subrecipient oversight (when applicable), and reporting schedules. Ongoing support helps programs meet requirements while staying focused on outcomes.

What is your success rate with grant applications?

Results vary by funder and year. During scoping we focus on program fit, readiness, and clear measures of impact. Awards are never guaranteed.

If every funder wants a different report from the same small team

Every funder has its own template, budget form and deadline, and I do all of them.
The work gets lighter when it is set up once, at award, instead of rebuilt at each deadline. That means one reporting calendar, one place where spending is tracked by award, and outcome data collected as the program runs. We build those procedures and schedules around each funder's written requirements.
We spent the money properly but I could not prove it quickly if someone asked.
Audit readiness is mostly documentation habits: who approved a cost, which award it was charged to, and how staff time was split. We set up written procedures, internal controls, time and effort records and procurement practices that fit the award terms. Have your last audit to hand when you call.
We keep applying for things that do not quite fit because we need the money.
A poor fit costs weeks of writing, and if it is funded, the award can bring requirements your budget cannot cover. We assess program fit and readiness before a proposal is written, including whether the award would cover what delivery costs you. No award is ever certain, so it is better to screen before applying.
Have this ready when you call
  • Award letters or contracts with their reporting schedules
  • Current budget, by funder if you have it that way
  • Last audit and any findings or management letter
  • A recent report you submitted to a funder
  • Opportunities you are considering, with deadlines

You can call without all of these. We will work out the rest with you.
