Pediatric Physical Therapy

Pediatric Physical Therapy helps children build strength, coordination, and balance so they can take part in everyday activities and reach developmental milestones. We use play-based, goal-directed exercises that make therapy engaging and measurable. When services are authorized by a school district/DOE or through New York State Early Intervention (birth–3), they are provided at no cost to eligible families. Many insurance plans also cover physical therapy.

Helping Children Thrive Through Active Play

Physical therapy develops the motor skills children need to move safely and independently. At Knowledge Road, licensed pediatric physical therapists create individualized plans based on each child's evaluation—from early intervention for infants and toddlers to targeted support for school-age children and adolescents.

Sessions take place in a child-friendly setting and may also be provided at home, in school, or in the community. Activities are designed to feel like play while tracking steady progress.

With this service, we provide:

  • One-on-one sessions with a licensed pediatric physical therapist
  • Individualized treatment plans informed by a thorough evaluation
  • Play-based therapy to keep children engaged and motivated
  • Targeted exercises to improve:
    • Strength and coordination
    • Balance and posture
    • Gross motor skills (e.g., crawling, walking, climbing)
  • Family-centered routines for home practice
  • Collaboration with parents, teachers, and other providers

This service is designed to:

  • Improve mobility and movement confidence
  • Support developmental milestones
  • Increase independence in daily activities
  • Reduce the risk of injury and physical strain
  • Build lifelong habits for healthy movement

Why This Service Matters

Early, focused physical therapy can help children overcome delays, recover after injuries, and develop the skills needed for long-term success. By making therapy fun and including families, children stay motivated while making meaningful gains.
