Child Development Evaluation

Our Child Development Evaluation gives you a clear picture of your child's strengths and where extra support may help. Through play-based observation, standardized assessments, and family input, we create practical next steps to support learning, play, and daily life. When evaluations are authorized by a school district/DOE program or New York State Early Intervention (birth–3), they are provided at no cost to eligible families; insurance is also accepted.

Laying the Foundation for Lifelong Growth

Early evaluation helps families act quickly and confidently. At Knowledge Road, we use a comprehensive, family-centered process that looks at all areas of development—motor skills, cognition, speech and language, social interaction, and emotional well-being.

We specialize in evaluations for children ages 0–3 and also assess preschool and school-age students. Every evaluation results in specific, actionable recommendations that connect families to the right services.

With this service, we provide:

  • Developmental screening through play-based activities and caregiver interviews
  • Standardized testing and milestone checklists compared with age-appropriate norms
  • A family feedback session to review results, answer questions, and set priorities
  • A personalized plan with recommendations that may include speech, occupational, or physical therapy, ABA/ABI, or classroom supports
  • Coordination with other providers so everyone works from the same plan

This service is designed to:

  • Identify strengths to build upon and areas where targeted support can help
  • Give families clear guidance for next steps
  • Facilitate timely access to services before gaps widen
  • Establish one cohesive plan that aligns therapists, educators, and families
  • Support ongoing progress monitoring as your child grows

Why This Service Matters

Early identification is key. A thorough, developmentally appropriate evaluation can reveal needs that might otherwise be missed and turn concern into a concrete plan. Our recommendations are specific, measurable, and tailored to your child.
